Should Black Rose Dragon be banned?

Hello eveyrone.

Just of curiousity, I was thinking on whether Black Rose Dragon would be banned because of it's effect. Because it's already limited/restricted.

Synchro summoning condition: 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Effect: When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 Plant-Type monster from your Graveyard to change 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls to face-up Attack Position, and reduce its ATK to 0 until the End Phase.

This card is basically the cross between Heavy Storm and Dark Hole and Raikegi (well to be trueful, it's the exact same) except it's a turbo version of it and that is very easy to summon.

I don't really know how people abused Dark Hole or whatever but from this format, you could do a lot of damage with Dark Hole without a card and the same with Raigeki although Raigeki is better than Dark Hole.

I didn't see the point on having Dark Hole as banned but having it for limited/restricted would have been more reasonable. But from this format now, it has more reasons to be in the banned list. And Raigeki doesn't need to be mentioned .

Anyway, away from that and onto Black Rose Dragon.

There's a lot of easy ways to summon Black Rose Dragon and i'll type some;

Emergency Teleport for Psychich Commander + any level four monster.

Twilight Rose Knight and use it's effect for a level four monster.

Summon a level three monster whilst activating two Quillbolt Hedgehogs from your graveyard (Or summon a level one monster and activate three).

Summoning Black Salvo and activating it's effect.

Summoning Marauding Captain and activate it's effect to summon Twilight Rose Knight (which is pointless) or a different level three monster.

....And so on...

So in overall, Black Rose Dragon is a turbo destruction card and having three in a deck would have been havoc. SO will Black Rose Dragon be banned or will it be on limited/restricted still?

well if i'm right, in irl its not limited or anything for a very long time so i dont think that it'll get hitted by ban/restrict since its summoning condition is quite reasonable. and from what i saw in irl decks people use only 1 copy anyway couse there are other way more broken synchros that need a place in the extra deck.
by the way, if it will hit a flipper like ryko or old vindictive magician i think balck rose dragon will be destroyed coz i dont see anything said about not activating flip effects.

I'm feeling a rush for banning things in the air. We can't just ban every card with a powerful effect, otherwise there wouldn't be any variety at all and we would return back to old days where normal monsters were the most commonly played.

BRD has a very powerful effect, but so do Demise, Daedalus and Sky Scourge Norleras, among others, and some of them can be abused (say PoC) as easily as BRD can be summoned, so I don't think this card deserves to be banned.

In addition and unlike Daedalus and Demise, this card destroys itself so it's not a big problem (it's lack of cost is compensated in this way). It looks balanced to me.

As for its second effect... well, I don't know what to say, it's one nasty effect which forces your opponents to use more cards if they want to prevent their monsters to be destroyed by battle and receive 2400 of damage in the way, so you could say I see this effect nastier (more tricky, more advantageous) than its first one. Thankfully, this effect is only playable in a few decks.

I say leave it only for plant decks ) Let's change the text to 1 Earth / Plant Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters or 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Earth / Plant monsters

its not too bad. i have yet to see a deck that abuses her.

It's most likely going to be limited. It's effect is extremely powerful (no cost demise/JD), but the main reason is that it blows itself up so you can't get a free attack in unless you didn't summon a monster.

BRD has gotten me out of many jams it almost always changes the tide in a duel. I use the card but I hate to be on the receiving end lol besides it's easy to counter. My body as a shield, solemn judgement etc.

It won't be banned, but will be limited (1). It is a great card and has gotten me out of ALOT of sticky spots. Is is popular cause it can be put into any deck with tuners that let you summon a lvl 7 monster. Limited is fine, banning isn't necessary.
Just my opinion, doesn't mean anything.

well clearly by the views of others, it should NOT be banned.

Obviously Black Rose has a very good effect, but it's not like Demise King of Armageddon which stays on the field after clearing it.

I agree with wight, some specific tuning requirements should have been brought to Black Rose, when they created it.

Also it'd be pretty hard to synchro summon, then attack again without some-kind of Zombie-Norleras type engine (which just kills the idea and the fun)

I could see this card going to 1 (isn't it at 1 now IRL?) but that's about it.

Lol, it won't be banned. ^^
The main reason for this is that it says destroy. This means monsters that have their effects activate when destroyed still get the effects. Also it's a type-themed card so if they banned it a non-meta deck would get hurt and that's no good. =(

Ps. The three easiest ways of summoning it in my opinion is:
1. Summon Black Salvo to special the Lv4 Dark/Machine and Synchro straight out for Black Rose (used to be used for Dark Strike Fighter when not banned).
2. Summon Blackwing - Shura/Bora, special summon Blackwing - Gale and Synchro straight out for Black Rose (also used for Blackwing Armor Master).
3. Summoner Monk, use the effect to get Rescue Cat, tribute for two X-Saber Airbellum's, synchro with one of them for Black Rose (also used for Arcanite Magician).

Lv7 Synchro's are by far the easiest to play. ^^
